N.B.
People tell me that you shouldn't take any notice of what spirits have got to say because they can tell you lies and get you into trouble; if there is something I have learnt over the years it is that so can people. I'm happy to say, that I have been completely honest with everything that I have said on these blogs.

Believe me, even if you cannot bring yourself to believe in religion, (something I have always struggled to do) we really do have some kind of spiritual force that watches over us, and it's magic, as is life. We are even a part of that spiritual force, somehow. I really don't think it matters what (if any) religion you are, that is not what is important.

I hope and pray to God and ALL the powers that be and to ALL that has control over us, (for ALL that it is worth) that one day we will all understand this world and humanity better than we do now and find a way of living in peace and harmony with it, with each other and even with ourselves. I hope and pray that one day we can ALL GLOW together in HARMONY with LOVE and UNDERSTANDING as OUR GOAL...for ever more.

The cornucopia (in Latin also cornu copiae) or horn of plenty is a symbol of abundance and nourishment, commonly a large horn-shaped container overflowing with produce, flowers, nuts, other edibles, or wealth in some form. Originating in classical antiquity, it has continued as a symbol in Western art, and in North America is particularly associated with the Thanksgiving holiday.

In Mythology

Classical mythology offers multiple explanations of the origin of the cornucopia. One of the best-known involves the birth and nurturance of the infant Zeus, who had to be hidden from his devouring father Cronus. In a cave on Mount Ida on the island of Crete, baby Zeus was cared for and protected by a number of divine attendants, including the goat Amalthea ("Nourishing Goddess"), who fed him with her milk. The suckling future king of the gods had unusual abilities and strength, and in playing with his nursemaid accidentally broke off one of her horns, which then had the divine power to provide unending nourishment, as the foster mother had to the god.

In another myth, the cornucopia was created when Heracles (Roman Hercules) wrestled with the river god Achelous and wrenched off one of his horns; river gods were sometimes depicted as horned.

The cornucopia became the attribute of several Greek and Roman deities, particularly those associated with the harvest, prosperity, or spiritual abundance, such as personifications of Earth (Gaia or Terra); the nymph Maia; and Fortuna, the goddess of luck, who had the power to grant prosperity. In Roman Imperial cult, abstract Roman deities who fostered peace (pax Romana) and prosperity were also depicted with a cornucopia, including Abundantia, "Abundance" personified, and Annona, goddess of the grain supply to the city of Rome. Pluto, the classical ruler of the underworld in the mystery religions, was a giver of agricultural, mineral and spiritual wealth, and in art often holds a cornucopia to distinguish him from the gloomier Hades, who holds a drinking horn instead.

The words "horn" and "corn" are synonymous -- cornucopia, unicorn. Moses was commanded by God, "And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof," when he ordained the structure of the Jewish altar. And the fleeing Israelites tried to take no risks on their luck, in spite of the miracles of the burning bushes, parting seas, and manna from heaven - they fashioned a graven image, a golden calf! (Maybe it was a big calf with horns already.)

Aaron's rod refers to any of the staves carried by Moses' brother, Aaron, in the Old Testament of the Bible. The Bible tells how, along with Moses' rod, Aaron's rod was endowed with miraculous power during the Plagues of Egypt that preceded the Exodus. There are two occasions where the Bible tells of the rod's power even when it was not being held by its owner.

In Islam

Said Moses: 'Throw ye first.'

As I understand it, Aaron's Rod became known as a Holy Rod, otherwise known as Holy Rood, because Rod was Rood in old English. The Holy Rood is not just a rod, there are some old buildings called Holy Rood, such as the Queens castle in Scotland and a really old little church not far from me in Swindon. So that would imply it did come to the UK at some point, although it is now said to be lost. The Holy Rood, is said to have been made of wood, very holy wood.

MASONRY DEFINED - ABSTRACT

Aaron's Rod. The method by which Moses caused a miraculous judgment as to which tribe should be invested with the priesthood, is detailed in the Book of Numbers (ch. xvii.). He directed that twelve rods should be laid up in the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle, one for each tribe; that of Aaron, of course, represented tli a tribe of Levi. On the next day these rods were brought out and exhibited to the people, and while all the rest remained dry and withered, that of Aaron alone budded and blossomed and yielded fruit. There is no mention in the Pentateuch of this rod having been placed in the ark, but only that it was put before it. But as St. Paul, or the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews (Hebrews ix. 4), asserts that the rod and the pot of manna were both within the ark, Royal Arch Masons have followed this later authority. Hence the rod of Aaron is found in the ark; but its import is only historical, as if to identify the substitute ark as a true copy of the original, which had been lost. No symbolical instruction accompanies its discovery.

In April 2010 I got the urge to pop down to a local church and take some photos. Having just read another amazing post (Another History of the Knights Templar Part 7) by Christopher Knowles, on The Secret Sun site, I just got the urge to post a couple of them here.

Something to note about The Chronicles of Narnia is the Knights Templar symbolism contained in the central figure Aslan, otherwise known as the“Great Lion” and the “savior” of mankind, he was modelled after one of their most beloved leaders, Richard the Lionheart.

Teleportation is the idea of the transfer of matter from one point to another, more or less instantaneously; similar to the concept apport, an earlier word used in the context of spiritualism. Teleportation is used widely in works of science fiction and fantasy.

Antecedants

The concept of such travel long predates the modern term, and appeared in various myths, fairy tales and philosophies. For example, in the tale of Alladin in the Arabian Nights the Djin is able to travel instantly from China to Morocco and back, and even take a whole palace with him. The Tarnhelm in Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen is a magic helmet conferring, among other things, the power of such travel. Kefitzat Haderech in Jewish tradition and Tay al-Ard in Islamic philosophy both referred to it.

Etymology

The word teleportation was coined in 1931 by American writer Charles Fort to describe the strange disappearances and appearances of anomalies, which he suggested may be connected. He joined the Greek prefix tele- (meaning "distant") to the Latin verb portare (meaning "to carry"). Fort's first formal use of the word was in the second chapter of his 1931 book, Lo!: "Mostly in this book I shall specialize upon indications that there exists a transportory force that I shall call Teleportation." Fort added "I shall be accused of having assembled lies, yarns, hoaxes, and superstitions. To some degree I think so myself. To some degree, I do not. I offer the data." Fort suggested that teleportation might explain various allegedly paranormal phenomena, although it is difficult to say whether Fort took his own "theory" seriously or instead used it to point out what he saw as the inadequacy of mainstream science to account for strange phenomena. The word teletransportation, which simply expands Charles Fort's abbreviated term, was first employed by Derek Parfit as part of a thought exercise on identity.

Kefitzat Haderech (Hebrew: קְפִיצַת הַדֶּרֶךְ, Modern Qəfiẓat haDéreḫ or Kfitzat haDérech Tiberian Qəp̄îṣáṯ hadDéreḵ) is a Jewish term that literally means "contracting the path". It refers to miraculous travel between two distant places in a brief time.

The Talmud (BT Sanhedrin 95) lists three biblical stories in which this miracle occurs. In early stories of the Chasidic movement, wonder-working rabbis are ascribed the ability to reach destinations with unnatural speed. Nigal, Hasidic Stories.

The name Kwisatz Haderach from Dune universe (translated as "the Shortening of the Way") is presumably derived from the term kefitzat haderech.

Tayy al-Arḍ (Arabic: طيّ الأرض‎ "folding up of the earth") is the name for thaumaturgical teleportation in the mystical form of Islamic religious and philosophical tradition. The concept has been expressed as "traversing the earth without moving"; some have termed it "moving by the earth being displaced under one's feet". It is a concept widely familiar to the Sunnis, Shī‘īs and Sufis, each group having a different interpretation on it.

The concept of tei al-ardh has its roots in the following verses of the Chapter al-Naml of the Quran:

^{[Qur'an 27:40]}: "Said one who had knowledge of the Book: 'I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of any eye!' Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: 'This is by the grace of my Lord!'..."

Being an allegedly esoteric knowledge by nature, it is not known exactly how it takes place, but theories and explanations abound. The most prevalent theory has to do with the concept of consciousness and will (اراده). The person wills to be some place, and he is then simply there an instant later. This view can perhaps be understood from the perspective of Western philosophical idealism, where esse est percipi: if space does not have an objective reality, and reality itself is thought of as observer-based and a subjective entity, then ideas such as moving in space without actually physically moving are no longer uncharted possibilities.

In addition, the jinn are believed to possess this knowledge of transportation, however in a limited amount, as is evident again from the aforementioned Quranic verses.

Some Psychic Teleportation Research

Controlled and repeatable PK experiments took place in the People's Republic of China in the early 1980s. According to a paper summarizing them, "gifted children were able to cause the apparent teleportation of small objects (radio micro-transmitters, photosensitive paper, mechanical watches, horseflies, other insects, etc.) from one location to another (that was meters away) without them ever touching the objects beforehand." Similar successful experiments were also conducted with Chinese children in the early 1990s. "The experiments were well controlled, scientifically recorded, and the experimental results were always repeatable," Davis says. In fact, these tests were actually videotaped or recorded by high-speed photography, and when objects were teleported through containers, for example, "the test specimens would physically 'meld' or blend with the walls of sealed containers." Other times, they would simply disappear from the container and appear in another location. In some cases, it would occur in the fraction of a second, other times it would take several minutes.

Mohawks, Helmets, Boxes and Big Heads...

The mohawk (sometimes referred to in British English as a mohican) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center. It is associated mostly with the punk rock subculture, though today mohawks have entered mainstream fashion.

The mohawk is also sometimes referred to as an iro in reference to the Iroquois, from whom the hairstyle is (apparently) derived.

History

The hairstyle has been in existence in many different areas of the world, for thousands of years. For instance, the Clonycavan Man, a 2000-year-old male bog body discovered near Dublin, Ireland in 2003, was found to be wearing a mohawk styled with plant oil and pine resin. Artwork discovered at the Pazyryk burials dating back to 600 BC depicts Scythian warriors sporting similar mohawks. The body of a warrior occupying one of the kurgans had been scalped earlier in life and wore a hair prosthesis in the form of a mohawk.

The Mahicans (also Mohicans) are an Eastern Algonquian Native American tribe, originally settling in the Hudson River Valley (around Albany, NY). After 1680, many moved to Stockbridge, Massachusetts. During the early 1820s and 1830s, most of the remaining descendants migrated westward to northeastern Wisconsin. The Etruscan Civilization is the modern English name given to a civilization of ancient Italy in the area corresponding roughly to Tuscany. The ancient Romans called its creators the Tusci or Etrusci. Their Roman name is the origin of the terms Tuscany, which refers to their heartland, and Etruria, which can refer to their wider region.

The Etruscans called themselves Rasenna, which was syncopated to Rasna or Raśna.

A closely related special form is a single helmet from Dura Europos which is similar to Roman ridge helmets, but has a much higher calotte. It probably belonged to a Sassanid warrior of the 3rd century.

The Korybantes (Ancient Greek: Κορύβαντες) were the crested dancers who worshipped the Phrygian goddess Cybele with drumming and dancing. They are also called the Kurbantes in Phrygia, and Corybants in an older English transcription. The Kuretes were the nine dancers who venerate Rhea, the Cretan counterpart of Cybele, Mother of the Gods.

K'inich Janaab' Pakal (23 March 603 – 28 August 683) was ruler of the Maya polity of Palenque in the Late Classic period of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican chronology. During a long reign of some 68 years Pakal was responsible for the construction or extension of some of Palenque's most notable surviving inscriptions and monumental architecture.

Before his name was securely deciphered from extant Maya inscriptions, this ruler has been known by an assortment of nicknames and approximations, common ones including Pakal (or Pacal), "Sun Shield", "8 Ahau", and (familiarly) as "Pacal the Great".

Artificial cranial deformation, head flattening, or head binding (Wiki) is any practice of intentionally deforming the skull of a human being. It is done by distorting the normal growth of a child's skull by applying force. Flat shapes, elongated ones (produced by binding between two pieces of wood), rounded ones (binding in cloth) and conical ones are among those chosen. It is typically carried out on an infant, as the skull is most pliable at this time. In a typical case, headbinding begins approximately a month after birth and continues for about six months.

Marduk

Usually it is a part of a cultural ritual, aimed at creating a skull shape which is aesthetically more pleasing or associated with desirable attributes such as intelligence. For example, in the Nahai-speaking area of Tomman Island and the south south-western Malakulan, a person with a finely elongated head is thought to be more intelligent, of higher status, and closer to the world of the spirits.

Marduk (Sumerian spelling in Akkadian: AMAR.UTU �� "solar calf"; perhaps from MERI.DUG; Biblical Hebrew מְרֹדַךְ Merodach; Greek Μαρδοχαῖος, Mardochaios) was the Babylonian name of a late-generation god from ancient Mesopotamia and patron deity of the city of Babylon, who, when Babylon became the political center of the Euphrates valley in the time of Hammurabi (18th century BCE), started to slowly rise to the position of the head of the Babylonian pantheon, a position he fully acquired by the second half of the second millennium BCE. In the perfected system of astrology, the planet Jupiter was associated with Marduk by the Hammurabi period.

Marduk's original character is obscure but he was later on connected with water, vegetation, judgment, and magic. He was also regarded as the son of Ea (Sumerian Enki) and Damkina and the heir of Anu, but whatever special traits Marduk may have had were overshadowed by the political development through which the Euphrates valley passed and which led to imbuing him with traits belonging to gods who at an earlier period recognized as the heads of the pantheon.

There are particularly two gods—Ea and Enlil—whose powers and attributes pass over to Marduk. In the case of Ea, the transfer proceeded pacifically and without effacing the older god. Marduk took over the identity of Asarluhi, the son of Ea and god of magic, so that Marduk was integrated in the pantheon of Eridu where both Ea and Asarluhi originally came from.

Father Ea voluntarily recognized the superiority of the son and hands over to him the control of humanity.

Babylonian astronomy comprises the astronomical methods and theories that were developed in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), particularly in Babylonia but inheriting earlier concepts developed in Sumer. Babylonian astronomy was the basis for much of the astronomical tradition that later developed in Greek and Hellenistic astronomy, in Sassanid Persian astronomy, in Syrian and Byzantine astronomy, in medieval Islamic astronomy, and in Western European astronomy.

According to Asger Aaboe, the origins of Western astronomy can be found in Mesopotamia, and all Western efforts in the exact sciences are descendants in direct line from the work of the late Babylonian astronomers. Our knowledge of Sumerian astronomy is indirect, via the earliest Babylonian star catalogues dating from about 1200 BCE. The fact that many star names appear in Sumerian suggests a continuity reaching into the Early Bronze Age.

The history of astronomy in Mesopotamia, and the world, begins with the Sumerians who developed the earliest writing system—known as cuneiform—around 3500–3200 BC. The Sumerians developed a form of astronomy that had an important influence on the sophisticated astronomy of the Babylonians. Astrolatry, which gave planetary gods an important role in Mesopotamian mythology and religion, began with the Sumerians. They also used a sexagesimal (base 60) place-value number system, which simplified the task of recording very great and very small numbers. The modern practice of dividing a circle into 360 degrees, of 60 minutes each, began with the Sumerians.

During the 8th and 7th centuries BCE, Babylonian astronomers developed a new empirical approach to astronomy. They began studying philosophy dealing with the ideal nature of the universe and began employing an internal logic within their predictive planetary systems. This was an important contribution to astronomy and the philosophy of science, and some scholars have thus referred to this new approach as the first scientific revolution. This new approach to astronomy was adopted and further developed in Greek and Hellenistic astronomy. Classical Greek and Latin sources frequently use the term Chaldeans for the astronomers of Mesopotamia, who were, in reality, priest-scribes specializing in astrology and other forms of divination.

Only fragments of Babylonian astronomy have survived, consisting largely of contemporary clay tablets with ephemerides and procedure texts, hence current knowledge of Babylonian planetary theory is in a fragmentary state. Nevertheless, the surviving fragments show that, according to the historian A. Aaboe, Babylonian astronomy was "the first and highly successful attempt at giving a refined mathematical description of astronomical phenomena" and that "all subsequent varieties of scientific astronomy, in the Hellenistic world, in India, in Islam, and in the West—if not indeed all subsequent endeavour in the exact sciences—depend upon Babylonian astronomy in decisive and fundamental ways."

Sinbad the Sailor (also spelled Sindbad; Arabic السندباد البحري as-Sindibād al-Baḥri; Persian سندباد Sændbād) is a fictional sailor from Basrah, living during the Abbasid Caliphate – the hero of a story-cycle of Middle Eastern origin. During his voyages throughout the seas east of Africa and south of Asia, he has fantastic adventures going to magical places, meeting monsters, and encountering supernatural phenomena.

Sindbad is a Persian word hinting at a Persian origin. The oldest texts of the cycle are however in Arabic, and no ancient or medieval Persian version has survived. The story as we have it is specifically set during the rule of the Abbasid Caliphate and particularly highlights the reign of Harun al-Rashid. The name Sindbad indicates the name of the Indus River (Sindhu). The Sindhi Sailors, who became famous due to their skills in navigation, geography and languages may very well have inspired the stories of Sindbad the Sailor. Sindh is actually mentioned in the story of the Third Voyage: ("And thence we fared on to the land of Sind, where also we bought and sold").

The collection is tale 120 in Volume 6 of Sir Richard Burton's 1885 translation of The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights) (despite criticisms regarding the translation and the commentary of the Burton edition, it remains the most extensive collection of Arabian Nights tales in English and is hence often used for reference purposes. While Burton and other Western translators have grouped the Sinbad stories within the tales of Scheherazade in the Arabian Nights, its origin appears to have been quite independent from that story cycle and modern translations by Arab scholars often do not include the stories of Sinbad or several other of the Arabian Nights that have become familiar to Western audiences.

What is understood is that a flying carpet was spun on a loom like an ordinary carpet; the difference lay in the dyeing process. Here, the artisans had discovered a certain clay, 'procured from mountain springs and untouched by human hand', which, when superheated at 'temperatures that exceeded those of the seventh ring of hell' in a cauldron of boiling Grecian oil, acquired anti-magnetic properties. Now the Earth itself is a magnet, and has trillions of magnetic lines crossing it from the North to the South Pole. The scientists prepared this clay and dyed the wool in it before weaving it on a loom. So, when the carpet was finally ready, it pulled itself away from the Earth and, depending on the concentration of clay used, hovered a few feet or several hundred feet above the ground. Propulsion went along the magnetic lines, which acted like aerial rails. Although they were known to the Druids in England and the Incas in South America, only recently are physicists beginning to rediscover the special properties of these so-called 'fey-lines'.

The Sea Peoples is the term used for a confederacy of seafaring raiders of the second millennium BC who sailed into the eastern Mediterranean, caused political unrest, and attempted to enter or control Egyptian territory during the late 19th dynasty and especially during Year 8 of Ramesses III of the 20th Dynasty. The Egyptian Pharaoh Merneptah explicitly refers to them by the term "the foreign-countries (or 'peoples') of the sea" (Egyptian n3 ḫ3t.w n p3 ym) in his Great Karnak Inscription. Although some scholars believe that they invaded Cyprus, Hatti and the Levant, this hypothesis is disputed.

Historical Context

The Late Bronze Age in the Aegean was characterized by the raiding of migratory peoples and their subsequent resettlement. The identity of the Sea Peoples has remained enigmatic to modern scholars, who have only the scattered records of ancient civilizations and archaeological analysis to inform them. Evidence shows that the identities and motives of these peoples were not unknown to the Egyptians. In fact, many had been subordinate to the Egyptians or in a diplomatic relationship with them for at least as long as the few centuries covered by the records.

Some groups were not included in the Egyptian list of Sea Peoples, as they operated primarily on land. Among them were the 'prw (Habiru) of Egyptian inscriptions, or 'apiru of cuneiform ("bandits"). Sandars uses the analogous name "land peoples."Some people, such as the Lukka, were included in both categories. Some scholars suspect that one of the groups of Habiru were the Hebrews. Select groups, or members of groups, were used as mercenaries by the Egyptians.

Gog and Magog (Hebrew: גּוֹג וּמָגוֹג‎; Arabic: يَأْجُوج وَ مَأْجُوج‎) appear in the Book of Genesis, the Book of Ezekiel, the Book of Revelation, and the Qur'an. They are variously presented as men, supernatural beings (giants or demons), national groups, or lands. Gog and Magog occur widely in mythology and folklore...

Gog and Mog in Britain - Giants

Despite this somewhat frightening Biblical imagery, Lord Mayors of the City of London carry images of Gog and Magog (depicted as giants) in a traditional procession in the Lord Mayor's Show. According to the tradition, the giants Gog and Magog are guardians of the City of London, and images of them have been carried in the Lord Mayor's Show since the days of King Henry V. The Lord Mayor's procession takes place each year on the second Saturday of November.

The Lord Mayor's account of Gog and Magog says that the Roman Emperor Diocletian had thirty-three wicked daughters. He found thirty-three husbands for them to curb their wicked ways; they chafed at this, and under the leadership of the eldest sister, Alba, they murdered their partners. For this crime they were set adrift at sea; they washed ashore on a windswept island, which they named "Albion" - after Alba. Here they coupled with demons and gave birth to a race of giants, whose descendants included Gog and Magog.

An even older British connection to Gog and Magog appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's influential 12th century Historia Regum Britanniae, which states that Goemagot was a giant slain by the eponymous Cornish hero Corin or Corineus. The tale figures in the body of unlikely lore that has Britain settled by the Trojan soldier Brutus and other fleeing heroes from the Trojan War. Corineus supposedly slew the giant by throwing him into the sea near Plymouth; Richard Carew notes the presence of chalk figures carved on Plymouth Hoe in his time. Wace (Roman de Brut), Layamon (Layamon's Brut) (who calls the giant Goemagog), and other chroniclers retell the story, which was picked up by later poets and romanciers. John Milton's History of Britain gives this version:

The Island, not yet Britain, but Albion, was in a manner desert and inhospitable, kept only by a remnant of Giants, whose excessive Force and Tyrannie had consumed the rest. Gog Magog Hills (Main article: Gog Magog Downs)

The Gog Magog Downs are about three miles south of Cambridge, said to be the metamorphosis of the giant after being rejected by the nymph Granta (i.e. the River Cam). The dowser Thomas Charles Lethbridge claimed to have discovered a group of three hidden chalk carvings in the Gogmagog Hills. This alleged discovery is described at length in his book Gogmagog: The Buried Gods, in which Lethbridge uses his discoveries to extrapolate a primal deity named 'Gog' and his consort, 'Ma-Gog', which he believed represented the the Sun and Moon. Although his discovery of the chalk figures in the Gogmagog Hills has been dogged by controversy, there are similarities between the name and nature of the purported 'Gog' and the Irish deity Ogma, or the Gaulish Ogmios.The Cambridge molly side, Gog Magog, take their name from these hills.

Gog and Magog in Ierland

Works of Irish mythology, including the Lebor Gabála Érenn (the Book of Invasions), expand on the Genesis account of Magog as the son of Japheth and make him the ancestor to the Irish. His three sons were Baath, Jobhath, and Fathochta. Magog is regarded as the father of the Irish race, and the progenitor of the Scythians, as well as of numerous other races across Europe and Central Asia.

Partholón, leader of the first group to colonize Ireland after the Deluge, was a descendant of Magog. The Milesians, or people of the 5th invasion of Ireland, were also descendants of Magog.

The London Stone...

The London Stone is a stone that is said to be the place from which the Romans measured all distances in Britannia.

It is now set within a stone surround and iron grille on Cannon Street, in the City of London. This artefact is sometimes called the Stone of Brutus. Popular legends include the stone being the remains of an ancient stone circle that is alleged to have stood on Ludgate Hill and even the stone from which King Arthur drew Excalibur.

History

Whether or not this is true, the London Stone was for many hundreds of years recognised as the symbolic authority and heart of the City of London. It was the place where deals were forged and oaths were sworn. It was also the point from which official proclamations were made. Jack Cade, popular leader of those who rebelled against Henry VI in 1450, observed the tradition by striking his sword against it as a symbol of sovereignty after his forces entered London; on striking the stone, he then felt emboldened to declare himself "Lord of the City".

The earliest written reference to the London Stone is in a book belonging to Athelstan, King of the West Saxons in the early 10th Century. In the list of lands and rents some places are said to be "near unto London stone". It was already a landmark in 1198 when it was referred to on maps as Lonenstane or Londenstane. The first mayor of London was Henry Fitz-Ailwin de Londonestone (meaning 'Henry, son of Ailwin of London Stone') who served the city some time between 1189 and 1193.

The Stone was originally situated in the middle of Cannon Street and was much larger than it is now. Later the Stone was set into the wall of St Swithin's Church which was on this site before it was bombed during the Second World War (the Stone remarkably left unscathed).

The stone is still on display opposite Cannon Street station although rather inconspicuously situated. The stone and box, with iron grille, were designated a Grade II* listed structure on 5 June 1972. There is also a pub nearby called "The London Stone", which is run by Tattershall Castle Group.

Like the Ravens of the Tower of London, there is a myth that states the Stone's safety is linked to that of the city itself; "So long as the stone of Brutus is safe, so long shall London flourish". This relates to the myth that the stone was part of an altar built by Brutus of Troy, the legendary founder of London.

"Watkins theorised that the discovered ley lines were the remnants of prehistoric trading routes. He went on to associate ley lines with the Greek god Hermes (the Roman Mercury, the Norse Woden) who was the god of communication and of boundaries, the winged messenger, and the guide to travellers on unknown paths. Watkins’ identification of leys as ancient traders' routes was as far as he was prepared to go, despite the fact that numerous ley lines travelled up steep and almost inaccessible hillsides. In 1927 Alfred Watkins published another book, “The Ley Hunters Manual,” a guide to early tracks. The group of cultures collectively called Mound Builders were prehistoric inhabitants of North America who constructed various styles of earthen mounds for burial, residential and ceremonial purposes. These included the Pre-Columbian cultures of the Archaic period; Woodland period (Adena and Hopewell cultures); and Mississippian period; dating from roughly 3000 BCE to the 16th century CE, and living in regions of the Great Lakes, the Ohio River valley, and the Mississippi River valley and its tributaries. Name and Culture

The namesake cultural trait of the mound builders was the building of mounds and other earthworks. These burial and ceremonial structures were typically flat-topped pyramids or platform mounds, flat-topped or rounded cones, elongated ridges, and sometimes a variety of other forms. They were built as part of complex villages that attracted more dense populations, with a specialization of skills and knowledge. The best-known, flat-topped pyramidal structure, which at over 100 feet (30 m) tall is the largest pre-Columbian earthwork north of Mexico, is Monks Mound at Cahokia Indian Mounds in Collinsville, Illinois.

Some effigy mounds were constructed in the shapes or outlines of culturally significant animals. The most famous effigy mound, Serpent Mound in southern Ohio, is 5 feet (1.5 m) tall, 20 feet (6 m) wide, over 1,330 feet (405 m) long, and shaped as an undulating serpent.

The mound builders included many different tribal groups and chiefdoms, involving an array of beliefs and unique cultures over thousands of years. The general term covered their shared architectural practice of earthwork mound construction. This practice, believed to be associated with a cosmology that had a cross-cultural appeal, may indicate common cultural antecedents. The first mound building was an early marker of political and social complexity among the cultures in the Eastern United States. The Korybantes (Ancient Greek: Κορύβαντες) were the crested dancers who worshipped the Phrygian goddess Cybele with drumming and dancing. They are also called the Kurbantes in Phrygia, and Corybants in an older English transcription. The Kuretes were the nine dancers who venerate Rhea, the Cretan counterpart of Cybele, Mother of the Gods. In Hesiod's telling of Zeus's birth, when Great Gaia came to Crete and hid the child Zeus in a "steep cave", beneath the secret places of the earth, on Mount Aigaion with its thick forests; there the Cretan Kouretes' ritual clashing spears and shields were interpreted by Hellenes as intended to drown out the infant god's cries, and prevent his discovery by his cannibal father Cronus. Kouretes also presided over the infancy of Dionysus, another god who was born as a babe, and of Zagreus, a Cretan child of Zeus, or child-doublet of Zeus. The wild ecstasy of their cult can be compared to the female Maenads who followed Dionysus.

Ovid in Metamorphoses says they were born from rainwater, Ouranos fertilizing Gaia, which might connect them with the Pelasgian Hyades.

The scholar Jane Ellen Harrison wrote that besides being guardians, nurturers, and initiators of the infant Zeus, the Kouretes were primitive magicians and seers. She also wrote that they were metal workers and that metallurgy was considered an almost magical art.There were several "tribes" of Korybantes, including the Cabeiri, the Korybantes Euboioi, the Korybantes Samothrakioi. Hoplodamos and his Gigantes were counted among Korybantes, and Titan Anytos was considered a Kourete.

Homer referred to select young men as kouretes, when Agamemnon instructs Odysseus to pick out kouretes, the bravest among the Achaeans" to bear gifts to Achilles. The Greeks preserved a tradition down to Strabo's day, that the Kuretes of Aetolia and Acharnania in mainland Greece had been imported from Crete.

Was it an Alien?...

I've been wondering I saw an alien or a angel? It's hard to say really, he definitely had hair. He was wearing a white robe not a black one, it might have been a blue robe, it glowed with a blueness to it but it's hard to say, it wasn't brilliant white though. He had a really kind, concerned intense stare which I had felt (but not actually seen) for quite a long time leading up to this and after, not so much after the appearance. I found the feeling was stronger the more I thought about it. He help me get better in a lot of odd ways. If he was an alien then aliens are very spiritual.

The experience itself, actually seeing whatever it was, didn't scare me or bother me, it was amazing. It was some kind of energy magic that a lot of people could do with. Put aside everything else that has happened over the last year and a half, I think I saw an angel not an alien and I'm sure he healed me with some kind of energy magic. After that happening I find it hard to be pissed off about anything, it was so otherworldly. I'm not sure why an angel would want to heal me but it's the most likely possibility out of all the things I've come across. There is another possibility. The last time I was in hospital I found that the anti sickness drugs didn't work any more. The hospital said they would investigate to see what else they could do in case I got sick again. I don't think the do angels on the NHS but I might be wrong. Since I had this experience I feel like I've been resuscitated, like I was given some kind of CPR. I'm still wondering if there are spirits or strange goings on like aliens, in the hills, It's not got anything to do with this experience. He went up when he left, not down, then disappeared like a ghost does in films when they go through a wall, only he disappeared before he got as far as the ceiling. Which is why I think a portal was involved, possibly even teleportation.

It's a nightmare having an experience like this when there are so many crazy things in the world. Really there is no way of knowing what he was or what it was. He might have been an alien, or he might have been a monk that time travelled on the astral plane looking for people to heal. If it wasn't for the fact that I've had weird dreams I probably wouldn't spend quite as much time thinking about all the possibilities. The idea of him being an alien doesn't bother me too much, I have often thought about how if there really is a God then he is probably an alien, seeing as he is not on this planet and obviously not human.

The human energy field is what surrounds you always. It is usually invisible but some people do have the ability to see it. If you want, you can practice and develop that ability yourself.

It has sometimes been called the L-field or, more commonly, the aura. It extends out from you, acting a bit like a cocoon.

While there are many theories about this personal energy field, we will be concentrating on the aspect of how it might contain things you don’t want.

In our work with clients, we constantly come across situations where a person's problems are due, in large part, to unwanted 'stuff' in the aura.

Once that's cleared, the problem vanishes altogether or becomes greatly lessened.

Have you ever been in a good mood and then spent some time with someone who was gloomy? What happened to you after you left? You probably didn’t feel as happy any more. You could feel sad yourself. Or you might feel drained of energy.

Why did that happen?

One answer would be that your energy fields mingled with each other and you left with some of the other person’s energy. And, if it’s in your field, you’re going to notice it sooner or later.

The human energy field is not completely understood. However, from experience gained working with people over the years, it is fair to say that many people are carrying around stuff which isn’t theirs.This ‘stuff’ can be anything like:

anger
sadness
depression
irritation
tiredness
...and the strangest of all...other beings

Before we get to the strange stuff, did you notice that the examples were all unpleasant, or not happy and light? It’s true that we can get those energies transferred to our human energy field as well, but the plain fact is, if we had them already, we wouldn’t get them.

Why don’t we all get the blues?

The answer to that comes in two parts. First, there’s the fact that some people are just so plain happy and well-balanced that not many things can get stuck on them. Before you sigh with disappointment, it’s worth pointing out that there are very few people who are like that all the time.

Many of us can be happy for a while before something drags us back down again.

Secondly, you can make your very own human energy field strong enough so that it does not allow other negative stuff to stick to it. This is what is called protecting or strengthening the field.

Now for the strange stuff!

You might not want to think that anything else is stuck on you and affecting you.

Well, you’d best get used to the idea, because that is what can happen. That doesn’t mean that it happens all the time. But it does happen. And probably more often than you'd be happy thinking about!

Let me give an example....

Just assume you are visiting someone in hospital. Now a hospital is a great place to pick up things. After all, hospitals are where people die. Their spiritual energy can hang around the place for a while.

Sometimes they won’t even know they are dead.

Along you come, and your energy field looks great to them. Bright, glowing, attractive and the spirit of the departed person thinks. “Wow! that looks attractive. Lots of energy to help me. I’ll hop on”. And, before you know it, you have someone else you’re carrying.

Then you can’t understand why you’re moody or argumentative or craving a burger when you don’t normally like them.

But there’s more to it than that!

There are millions of different beings on this planet. Humans, animals, plants, each of them has its own personal energy. And that’s just on this planet. Think of all the other possible planets, all the other possible beings in the universe.

We have found that other beings, or at least the energy of other beings is sometimes found in the human energy field. And that can make people feel and act differently.

The bottom line

Anything which is in your energy field which is not yours and which has nothing to do with feeling or acting good or happy is going to affect you in one way or another.

You can pick things up from the environment which make you feel ill. You can strengthen your field and you can clean it.

But, if you live in an environment which is full of such sad, depressive, gloomy or otherwise nasty spiritual energy, you are not going to feel well, however much you clean and strengthen your own field.

How clear is your environment? Either your own human energy field, or the energy of where you live. You need to know this!

A Cochrane collaboration systematic review of the use of touch therapies published in 2008 found that half of recipients did and half did not show a reduction in pain. Concerns about a lack of good quality data are frequently reported by trial reviews and individual studies.

Holistic Health Care - What is it?

On September 17 2009, Professor Derick Wade gave the third Michael Benson lecture at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre's Annual General Meeting. His subject was 'Holistic Health Care. What is it and how do we achieve it?' (pdf; 583KB) The paper, which is available for download, discusses and expands upon the topic of holistic health care. Slides are also available. Slides are available as a pdf (above) and as a powerpoint presentation (below).

Holistic practice in medicine is widely claimed, but rarely explained or justified.

The article considers what holism is, and what holistic health care might be.

It shows that the best way to achieve holism in health care is to use a biopsychosocial model of illness similar to that used by the world Health Organisation in its International Clasification of Functioning.

The article also gives some evidence supporting the holistic approach and shows how a holistic approach might improve both clinical care and delivery of health care.

The author, Derick Wade has been interested in models of illness and design and delivery of rehabilitation services since about 1980, and has written many articles developing the model proposed here. He is grateful to the very many people who have discussed his ideas, often disagreeing and thus improving the model. He hopes that further debate will further improve the model.

Holism (from ὅλος holos, a Greek word meaning all, whole, entire, total) is the idea that all the properties of a given system (physical, biological, chemical, social, economic, mental, linguistic, etc.) cannot be determined or explained by its component parts alone. Instead, the system as a whole determines in an important way how the parts behave.

The general principle of holism was concisely summarized by Aristotle in the Metaphysics: "The whole is different from the sum of its parts" (1045a10).

Reductionism is sometimes seen as the opposite of holism. Reductionism in science says that a complex system can be explained by reduction to its fundamental parts. For example, that the processes of biology can be reduced to chemistry and the laws of chemistry explained by physics.

History

The term holism was introduced by the South African statesman Jan Smuts in his 1926 book, Holism and Evolution. Smuts defined holism as "The tendency in nature to form wholes that are greater than the sum of the parts through creative evolution."

The idea has ancient roots. Examples of holism can be found throughout human history and in the most diverse socio-cultural contexts, as has been confirmed by many ethnological studies.

The French Protestant missionary, Maurice Leenhardt coined the term cosmomorphism to indicate the state of perfect symbiosis with the surrounding environment which characterized the culture of the Melanesians of New Caledonia. For these people, an isolated individual is totally indeterminate, indistinct and featureless until he can find his position within the natural and social world in which he is inserted. The confines between the self and the world are annulled to the point that the material body itself is no guarantee of the sort of recognition of identity which is typical of our own culture.

In the late 1990's the term holistic evolved into the term wholistic in order to clarify the concept even further. For example schools refer to wholistic learning styles and medicine refers to the wholistic model that considers the mind, body, spirit in diagnosis and treatment.

Enzymes (Etymology).

As early as the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the digestion of meat by stomach secretions and the conversion of starch to sugars by plant extracts and saliva were known. However, the mechanism by which this occurred had not been identified.

In the 19th century, when studying the fermentation of sugar to alcohol by yeast, Louis Pasteur came to the conclusion that this fermentation was catalyzed by a vital force contained within the yeast cells called "ferments", which were thought to function only within living organisms. He wrote that "alcoholic fermentation is an act correlated with the life and organization of the yeast cells, not with the death or putrefaction of the cells."

In 1877, German physiologist Wilhelm Kühne (1837–1900) first used the term enzyme, which comes from Greek ενζυμον, "in leaven", to describe this process. The word enzyme was used later to refer to nonliving substances such as pepsin, and the word ferment was used to refer to chemical activity produced by living organisms.

In 1897, Eduard Buchner submitted his first paper on the ability of yeast extracts that lacked any living yeast cells to ferment sugar. In a series of experiments at the University of Berlin, he found that the sugar was fermented even when there were no living yeast cells in the mixture. He named the enzyme that brought about the fermentation of sucrose "zymase". In 1907, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for his biochemical research and his discovery of cell-free fermentation". Following Buchner's example, enzymes are usually named according to the reaction they carry out. Typically, to generate the name of an enzyme, the suffix -ase is added to the name of its substrate (e.g., lactase is the enzyme that cleaves lactose) or the type of reaction (e.g., DNA polymerase forms DNA polymers).

Having shown that enzymes could function outside a living cell, the next step was to determine their biochemical nature. Many early workers noted that enzymatic activity was associated with proteins, but several scientists (such as Nobel laureate Richard Willstätter) argued that proteins were merely carriers for the true enzymes and that proteins per se were incapable of catalysis. However, in 1926, James B. Sumner showed that the enzyme urease was a pure protein and crystallized it; Sumner did likewise for the enzyme catalase in 1937. The conclusion that pure proteins can be enzymes was definitively proved by Northrop and Stanley, who worked on the digestive enzymes pepsin (1930), trypsin and chymotrypsin. These three scientists were awarded the 1946 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

This discovery that enzymes could be crystallized eventually allowed their structures to be solved by x-ray crystallography. This was first done for lysozyme, an enzyme found in tears, saliva and egg whites that digests the coating of some bacteria; the structure was solved by a group led by David Chilton Phillips and published in 1965. This high-resolution structure of lysozyme marked the beginning of the field of structural biology and the effort to understand how enzymes work at an atomic level of detail.

Dance and health has been subject of a number of research studies which show dance to be a very healthy exercise. However there are a number of health risks of professional dance which require careful attention. As part of courtship dance is a reliable indicator of the dancer's health and intelligence.

Benefits of Dance

Being in general an aerobic exercise, dance brings well known benefits, such as reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, weight control and other ones commonly associated with physical fitness. In addition, a considerable effect of dancing on psychological well-being is noted.

However, as Arts Council England noted in its 2004 address to British House of Commons, most of evidence in support of these claims is of anecdotal character, and the Arts Council argued that "more needs to be done to demonstrate the specific and special benefits, and extend the delivery, of dance in a range of health contexts". Subsequently Laban did a study which indicated dance had a positive effect on physical fitness and psychological wellbeing and could be considered a valid alternative to sport.

Dance pads have proven useful in tackling obesity in young people and are welcomed in many schools for that reason.

A report by Professor Tim Watson and Dr Andrew Garrett of University of Hertfordshire compared members of the Royal Ballet with a squad of British national and international swimmers. The dancers scored higher than the swimmers in seven out of ten areas of fitness.

Most of the research to date on the health benefits of dance has been on the effects for older or ill people.

An Italian study in 2006 has shown that dance is a very good exercise for heart patients compared to other aerobic exercises like cycling. This may be partly because the patients enjoyed it much more.

A study in New York in 2003 has shown that cognitive activities like crosswords help ward off dementia but, except for ballroom dancing, most physical activities do not.

A recent study done in Perth Western Australia by Ms Debbie Duignan (WA Alzheimers Association) explored the use of Wu Tao Dance as a therapy for people with dementia. It was shown that Wu Tao, dance therapy that works to balance energy in the body, similar to Tai Chi helped to reduce symptoms of agitation in people with dementia.

A study at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine in 2007 showed Argentine tango was better at improving the mobility of Parkinson's disease sufferers than an exercise class (a later study showed similar benefits from Tai Chi). Because of the level of interest a permanent tango class was set up after the study ended.

A study Dr Paul Dougall at Strathclyde University in 2010 concentrating on older women found that Scottish country dancers were more agile, have stronger legs and can walk more briskly than people of the same age who took part in exercises such as swimming, walking, golf and keep-fit classes.

In general, listening to music you like can have a positive effect on your health as it helps you to relax and de-stress, and can make you feel happy.

Playing your own music can be very therapeutic and improve creativity and self-esteem, and also enhance social relationships if playing with other people.
However, playing or listening to music too loud can have negative health effects, as it can damage hearing short term or, if you listen to loud music a lot, long term. Higher frequencies will have most effect on hearing, but very loud low frequencies can also make you feel quite nauseous as it causes your body and organs to vibrate.
Music has been an intergral part of every culture since the beginning of human civilisation; it brings people together and spreads messages and reminds you that you are alive. State of Mind and Emotions...

If you take a look at The Wheel of Emotions by Robert Plutchik (above), it is very similar in some ways to the one that I saw. This is more like it though...

The way it was explained to me is that you need to be in the centre of that wheel if you want to improve well being, as emotions effects both mental and physical well being. If you are anywhere else, then the balance is out, and it will have an impact on you, your life and on your health. The result is not great when emotions fall outside of the centre circle for long periods of time, or sometimes suddenly and to a great degree. That can be when a person may need to watch out, and may need help, support, or spiritual guidance. If you are on the outside of the circle, then the effect it can have can be devastating. It's a whole new level and one which can have great depth to it. If you imagine a roundabout in a children's playground, or a fair ride, like the one in the magic roundabout, if your on the outside of the spinning roundabout (Wheel of Emotions) then you are travelling much faster than you would be if you stood somewhere in the circle.

How to get to the centre is another story...

For me the biggest problem was a strong lack of trust, as well as disgust towards certain peoples mentalities, attitudes and actions. With a bit of anger and these centred towards resentment. Each problem that presented itself had several roads that would either lead me to the centre or the outside.

The biggest message was deal with them all. Work through them, with them even. Face the problems that you see. Do what you can. With love and understanding.

There was more to it than that but this is the best way I can explain it. I found that my search for understanding to some things took me to a whole new level I guess. I became more balanced. As well as a new found trust that came about from spiritual experiences that I have had, you know, the magical times. Love for my children, my family, my friends and the world as a whole I feel plays a huge role in all of this. It's these things that are largely responsible for making life worth living as far as I am concerned.

Contempt can be a result of feelings, emotions that arise from many situations and experiences. It's quite obvious to me that disassociation can be a way of dealing with feelings of contempt. It is also quite obvious to me that disassociation can be present regardless of where a person is standing on The Wheel of Emotions. Day dreaming is also a form of disassociation if you ask me. Dissociation may even happen as we dream.

The reason why people can get very sick when they are pregnant has been linked to disassociation. I wonder if that is because the woman suddenly thinks of shit! Then they realsie that the father is a shit bag! and think oh double shit! Then...they take a look at the world around then and just throw up for nine months solid (sometimes longer) because that's all that their body can do? Contempt is an intense feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless—it is similar to scorn. It is also used when people are being sarcastic. Contempt is also defined as the state of being despised or dishonored; disgrace, and an open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body. One example of contempt could be seen in the character Ebenezer Scrooge from the Charles Dickens' book A Christmas Carol, who was cold-hearted, hating Christmas and poor people.

The word originated in 1393, from the Latin word contemptus meaning "scorn."

It is the past participle of contemnere and from com- intens. prefix + temnere "to slight, scorn." The origin is uncertain. Contemptuous appeared in 1529.

Robert C. Solomon places contempt on the same continuum as resentment and anger, and he argues that the differences between the three emotions are that resentment is directed toward a higher status individual; anger is directed toward an equal status individual; and contempt is directed toward a lower status individual.

Contempt is often brought about by a combination of anger and disgust.

Cultural Contexts

Ekman and Friesen (1986) identified a specific facial expression that observers in each of ten cultures, both Western and non-Western, agreed signaled contempt.” In this study, citizens of West Sumatra, Indonesia, were given photos of American, Japanese, and Indonesian peoples. Their ability to classify some facial expressions as contempt versus the other categorical emotions of anger, disgust, happiness, sadness, fear, or surprise (with the level of agreement equating to 75%) shows that generally, across cultures, contempt is universally understood. “An expression in which the corner of the lip is tightened and raised slightly on one side of the face (or much more strongly on one side than the other) signalled contempt.” This study showed that contempt, as well as the outward expression of contempt, can be pointed out across Western and Non-Western peoples when contrasted with other primary emotions.

Another study by Ekman, Sorenson, and Friesen, published in 1969, studied “Pan-Cultural Elements in Facial Displays of Emotion.” Their findings suggest “that the pan-cultural element in facial displays of emotion is the association between facial muscular movements and discrete primary emotions, although cultures may still differ in what evokes an emotion, in rules for controlling the display of emotion, and in behavioral consequences.” Although some cultures differ in terms of how emotions are learned, taught and controlled, Ekman, Sorenson, and Friesen have found that cross culturally, emotions can be recognized similarly. Contempt may frequently be one of the emotions experienced by privileged social classes or castes against the oppressed class or caste.
